Hrithik to Play Big B’s Role in ‘Agneepath’ Remake

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan immortalized the character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the 1990’s movie Agneepath. After two decades, filmmaker Karan Johar is going to revive the character with today’s superstar Hrithik Roshan.

Although, it was a dream of Big B’s son actor Abhishek Bachchan to play the role but he was not even offered. Hrithik is supposed to be Karan’s first choice to play this role, where he will be seen playing an international gangster. This role of ‘Dina Nath’ earned a national award for Big B.

Mithun’s Character Chopped out of new Agneepath, Solo-Hero Film won’t Star Abhishek

You may think Abhishek is the first, last and natural choice to play Amitabh Bachchan’s role in a new-age remake of the 1990’s cult gangster film Agneepath. In fact it was presumed by a large section of the entertainment industry that Abhishek would play the eponymous part of Vijay Dinanath Chauvan while Jaya Bachchan will play Vijay’s mother, previously played by Rohini Hattangadi in the original directed by late Mukul Anand.

However, it has now come to light that Abhishek was never offered the lead in the Agneepath remake.

Bachchan-Balki get Together for a 15-Minute, Short-Film

Bachchan BalkiEven as Balki puts finishing touches to the script for his third film featuring the Big B in the lead, the twosome who gave us two extremely unconventional hits Cheeni Kam and Paa will now be getting together for a 15-minute film celebrating, 100 years of Indian cinema.

While the details of the project are yet to be finalized it is understood that PVR Cinemas has commissioned 8 leading filmmakers to make 15-minute films which would all be released as one feature film in 2013 when Indian cinema celebrates 100 years of existence.

The first director to start his film would be Balki.
