Just as it happens with all the films that suffer from a poor word of mouth, ‘Raavan’ too, is now bearing the brunt of it all. With poor reviews from critics not helping the cause, the only place where this Mani Ratnam directed film is catching momentum is the world of Internet where it is the butt of many jokes. Thankfully, Mani succeeds in his own inimitable way. His team’s painstaking hard work shows in every frame of the film and his actors help him raise the film’s bar.

Aishwarya pays Abhishek a Surprise Visit

Normally the Bachchans have a rigid rule about not mixing business with pleasure. But on Thursday morning, when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan landed in Mumbai from Paris, she broke the golden rule when she dropped in unannounced, to meet Abhishek at the Reliance Web World where he was doing out-of-town press interviews.

Says a source, “Lately Abhishek and Aishwarya have had very little time together. After their short anniversary holiday, Abhishek got busy with the shooting of Abhinay Deo’s Game in Greece while Aishwarya returned to India for a stint of Robot. She was then in Paris to honor the Brazilian tennis champ Gustavo Kuerten for his work with disadvantaged children.”

3 Bridges, 2500 Planks, Innumerable Crabs for the Climactic Bridge-Fight in Raavan

Three different wooden bridges for the same sequence had to be built for the climactic fight between Vikram and Abhishek Bachchan in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. This monument of cinematic architecture between two mountains in a road-less stretch at Malshej Ghat was constructed by the famed production designer Samir Chanda and not by the distinguished bridge-architect Sheshadri Srinivasan, as rumoured.

Akshay-Aishwarya to do a Rishi-Dimple, Amitabh-Jaya in a Newly Composed Retro Song

Akshay and Aishwarya are thrilled. They’ll get to enact songs featuring their mother-in-law Dimple and father-in-law Amitabh, respectively. But composer Pritam Chakraborty is in a bit of a jam. Vipul Shah has decided at the last minute to re-record an entire complicated track for Action Replay for a retro-song to be filmed on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.

And this is no ordinary request. The one all-comprehensive track will have to represent screen jodis as diverse as Raj Kapoor-Nargis, Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz, Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya, Dharmendra-Hema Malini, and Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia.

Abhishek as Raavan but only in Hindi

Abhishek Bachchan’s first major hit was Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. He then did Guru opposite wife Aishwarya. The trio will now come together in the upcoming Raavan. The film has generated a lot of interest, especially as Abhishek will Raavan to Ash’s Sita. Aishwarya will also do the Tamil version Raavanan, but minus Abhishek.

Raavan will be dubbed in Tamil as Raavanan and in Telugu as Villian. Aishwarya is adept at Tamil, having done films like Iruvar and Jeans before.
