Debutant Amrita Puri of “Aisha” film Speaks Up

Amrita PuriThe promos of the upcoming movie Aisha shows a girl with behenji look getting hip-hop makeover with the help of Sonam Kapoor. The girl is debutant actress Amrita Puri, who plays a Bengali girl Shefali Thakkur.

She is shown moaning in pain at a salon in the movie and shaping her eyebrows also seems to be alien to the girl. Amrita is a model, who acted in many plays and has no connection with film industry. She is the daughter of the head of HDFC Bank. Coming from such a corporate background, her decision of acting had faced some apprehensions.

The Mumbai girl Amrita said, “My dad said there is no security in acting career and it is not considered a long-term career option”.

Amrita was a student of Bombay Scottish School and the St Xavier’s College. She added, “I completed my post graduation in mass communications and then had sometime in an ad agency. After this, when I approached my dad, he said if you are so determined then go ahead”.

Sonam Kapoor’s ‘AISHA’ Gives A New Face to Indian Fashion

Previously, it was the Hollywood flicks that used to set up a particular standard for the fashion trends of Bollywood. However, it seems that those days of ‘imitation’ and ‘influence’ are slowly fading away. Bollywood is soon going to release a flick entitled Aisha starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol that promises to manifest high end contemporary fashion. The pretty Sonam Kapoor would usually be seen wearing soft and flowery dresses.

Her attire would also include a nude tulle florid print that would also have a cute little bow and a few small pearls. These delightful outfits used in the film are courtesy Ayesha Depala, the well-known Dubai-based fashion designer.

IHLS Success Translates into Better Prospects for Aisha and Break Ke Baad

Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor can heave a sigh of relief. Despite a terrific weekend that boasted of 23 crores coming in, there were cynics who were waiting for I Hate Luv Storys to fall on weekdays. Bandh on Monday didn’t help the cause as theaters were closed till evening. Despite that the reception continued to range between decent and good. Approximately 10 crores were added in the next four days that resulted in a collection of nearly 32 crores for the film in the very first week. These are good collections by industry standards and instantly put Imran and Sonam in the top bracket.

I Hate Luv Storys

The benchmark of 50 crores seems a clear possibility for I Hate Luv Storys. It is a hit affair for Dharma Productions and UTV Motion Pictures. With this latest hit they would be willing to forget the debacle of their earlier project Kurbaan. Also, in one stroke the film has ended up doing much better business than Wake Up Sid which was again a Dharma-UTV collaboration. Yes, there are voices around I Hate Luv Storys that label it as clichéd and just a repackaged affair going right due to some aggressive marketing and promotion. However, when instant coffee is the name of the game and movie making strictly stays a business affair, a fast inflow of cash is the demand of the situation. In that context, I Hate Luv Storys has done truly well.

The film is expected to have some positive impact on the future projects of Imran and Sonam which are Break Ke Baad and Aisha respectively. Of course, it’s the product that ultimately matters, something which many actors would agree (Salman Khan’s Main Aurr Mrs Khanna came after Wanted, Ranbir’s Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year came after Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani). However, it’s the general positive energy in the air that counts and for both Imran and Sonam this is something that would indeed matter most.

A Busy Abhay Deol Disappointed at not Being Able to Promote Aisha

Abhay Deol, who has been receiving rave reviews after the promos of his forthcoming Aisha hit the airwaves, is disappointed at not being part of the film’s promotions due to his hectic schedule.

abhay deol

Abhay Deol is currently shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in Spain. He has often spoken about the great time he had shooting for Aisha also starring Sonam Kapoor. However, the star had already committed his dates to Zoya Akhtar and hence is unable to be part of the initial promotions of the Aisha that marks his return to commercial rom-com cinema.

Says a source, “Abhay is trying to wrap things for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, so that he can make it here for Aisha’s promotions. He is very disappointed that he could not be part of the film’s promotions. But then again he had already promised Zoya his dates much in advance. He is really looking forward to the film”.

Abhay Deol known for his expertise in unconventional roles now takes on a commercial film that sees him in a novel avatar very unlike the roles he’s accustomed doing. And if sources are to be believed, Abhay who plays a pivotal role in Aisha has done a stellar job in the film and is ready to wow audiences like he has never failed to do time and again.
