Smart Package Deals Ensure that Khatta Meetha Survives

After lending the film a decent opening, audience may not have patronised Khatta Meetha throughout its opening week. However, in the times when it is an opening that makes or break most of the films, Khatta Meetha too managed to breathe relatively easier with 32 crores coming in after the first week. The collections did see a hit over the second weekend due to the release of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, hence denting chances of a reasonably longer second innings. The word of mouth wasn’t encouraging enough and audience decided to give the film a pass.

OUATIM should take one of the best openings of 2010

In a year, there are those 8–10 films that give out right signals right from the time the first promo hits the air. Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai is one such fortunate films that has treaded just the right path to reach the kind of comfort stage that it finds itself in today. Just about everything seems to be going positively for this Milan Luthria film as of now. Whether it is it’s casting (Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi), edgy look, and dramatic premise and, of course, the music which is topping the charts – everything is contributing to ensure that Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai takes a very positive start at the box office.

Mid Range Costs Help Khatta Meetha

Khatta Meetha hasn’t lived up to the expectations from the content perspective. What was being sold entirely as a comedy has turned out to be a semi-humor-semi-drama affair. Even that would have been acceptable had the film being an engrossing watch. However, the fact remains that this is yet another loosely put together film by Priyadarshan, something which was the case with his last release Bumm Bumm Bole as well.

After Akshay Kumar Trisha Krishnan Signs Opposite Pratik Babbar

Another South Indian screen-queen Trisha Krishnan is all set to invade Bollywood. And this Tamilian follows the trend of making her debut with a leading man far older than her. After the 43-year old Akshay Kumar, 27-year old Trisha’s co-star is going to be the 24-year old Pratik Babbar.

Says Trisha, “The second Hindi film is a love story with just me and the guy in central roles. It’s a subject that can’t go wrong. I’ve already done the Tamil version of this film Vinaaithandi Varuvaya. Now the same director Gautham Menon is remaking it into Hindi with Pratik Babbar and me. I think we should be kick-starting it in August. I am excited because unlike Khatta Meetha where I don’t have a central part this one has a central role for me”.
