Music Review: Raaz The Mystery Continues
The first Raaz had some great music by Nadeem-Sharvan…but in part 2 Mukesh Bhatt has promised that the music will be better than that of the the original’s. In fact his exact words were… “The music is 101% better than Raaz”. Quite a bold statement considering the first one was one of the great albums by the one and only duo of Nadeem-Sharvan! So we were more than a little intrigued to see what this music would be like and how it would fit into the film. It can quite often be the case that sequels never live up to the original, don’t you think? If you are using a fast speed internet connection, perhaps the latest O2uk Broadband , then you are able to check out Nadeem-Sharvan’s music. You can remind yourself of why it is so great and what we can expect from part 2.
Raaz TMC has in it 5 songs and 4 musicians!
Maahi is composed by Sharib-Toshi; O Jaana and Soniyo are composed by Raju Singh; Kaisa Yeh Raaz is composed by Pranay M. Rijia; and Bandaa Re is composed by Gourov Dasgupta.
Maahi (Toshi) – As the year comes to a close, we get the best song of the year right here….this one only takes one listen to get hooked on…the singing, the music, and the lyrics are perfect. This is one of those songs I wish I could give more than five stars to!! Rating:
Soniyo (Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal & Neeraj Sridhar) – Sonu Nigam is not able to save this mediocre song with his singing…the usually dependable Neeraj Sridhar is is faced with singing in English and he brings the whole song down. It just doesn’t work! Rating:
O Jaana (KK) – The more you listen to it, the more catchier this track gets! O Jaana is a trademark Emraan Hashmi song that sounds familiar yet is…different. Rating:
Kaisa Yeh Raaz Hai (KK) – The song starts off like something spooky….then it becomes a typical track from the Bhatt camp…the moment the part “chehra hai kya, yeh meri aankhon mein” comes you get a feeling that this song might be something special…but unfortunately after that brief moment of hope the song fails to live up to expectations. Did anyone else notice the “kaisa yeh raaz hai” part is a copy of SRK’s “Bas itna sa khwaab hai” from Yes Boss? Rating:
Bandaa Re (Krishna) – Total waste. Very disappointed that the album ends with a song such as this! Rating:
Raaz part 2 consists of a gem in Maahi and another potential chartbuster in O Jaana…aside from that the album disappoints and can in no way considered better than the original Raaz!
Star Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Adhyayan Suman and Kangna Ranaut
