Some people just know how to get publicity. What better way then to have Shahrukh Khan in an item number and run promos of that continuously? Had it not been for that, I doubt anybody would have even noticed this film! In fact, that one song it seems IS the movie. SRK’s track appears a whopping four times in the soundtrack!
- Break Free - Here it is, the potential chartbuster of the album. The music is hip and upbeat; the video has a young and cool feel to it. This one is obviously targeted towards the youth. With the presence of SRK this song will most likely turn out to be a hit. But the song itself is no great shakes. The beats and music are catchy (at times) but are too forced in order to look “cool”. And I don’t even get what the nonsense lyrics are talking about. One highlight of the song however is the way Vishal (of Vishal-Shekhar) sings. I found myself wondering why SRK said yes to doing this song. Word on the block is that this song was supposed to be picturized on Hrithik Roshan but at the time of the shoot he fell ill. Well then! One man’s loss is another man’s…gain? Time will tell. Rating:
For those of you who enjoyed the Break Free song, you can rejoice as the song will appear in the album 3 more times.
- Dekhta Hai Tu Kya - Hard to classify what this song is…seems like a funky-folkish fusion? This song by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kirti Sagathia is best described in one word as interesting. Perhaps worth a few listens. Rating:
- Ik Rupiya (Sudesh Bhosle, Kirti Sagathia, Labh Jajua, Rahul Vaidya, Jimmy Moses, Bhavin Dhanak) - This song is so bad that it is not even a song. Rating:
- Jan Gan Man (Ankita Sachdev) - Anybody wants to listen to the national anthem in the car cd player? Your dream has come true. Rating:
- O Re Lakad - What the hell? Obviously Rajesh Roshan did not spend much time working on the songs in this album. So why am I wasting my time listening to it? (Shuts off cd player). Rating:
Overall Rating: Break Free and Dekhta Hai Tu Kya are worth a try; The rest deserves negative points.
