Music Review: Ghajini
Usually you would not expect great music in an action thriller like Ghajini, but considering that the film stars Aamir Khan and has music by AR Rahman, you cannot help but expect great things….
Unfortunately the music of Aamir Khan’s long awaited Ghajini disappoints.
Guzarish (Javed Ali and Sonu Nigam) – Javed Ali opened the year with a chartbuster called Jashn-e-Bahaara from Jodha Akbar….he closes out the year with another chartbuster in Guzarish……AR Rahman’s music is excellent. The strange thing is that Sonu Nigam makes a guest appearance in the song….I don’t really get the logic behind that…..although Javed Ali’s rendition is great, it probably would have been even better with Sonu Nigam!
Aye Bachchu (Suzanne) – AR Rahman tries to go the Pritam road with this hip-hop (almost rap) song…..hopefully he will never travel on this road again……..this song isn’t good and it was completely unnecessary to have AR Rahman make a song of this genre
Kaise Mujhe (Benny Dayal, Shreya) – Here is the AR Rahman we have grown to know and love……….nothing groundbreaking but a pretty nice song – until Shreya makes her entrance……after her arrival, the song reaches new heights! Isn’t she the best female voice out there?
Behka (Karthik) – Another song that tries to be hip…..and fails miserably. I know there will be people who will love this song but sorry I have nothing to say good about it…….aside from the fact that Aamir Khan will change his wardrobe six times in this song….yay! AR Rahman tries to be different in this song but the final product is rather weird.
Latoo (Shreya) – What??? Seriously AR bhai did you really make this song or did you steal it from Anu Malik?
You would expect great music from a Aamir Khan and AR Rahman collaboration….but not this time. Only two of the songs are good….the rest is just horrible. Hopefully those bad songs will be left out of the movie as they are completely unnecessary, especially in a movie of this genre….
….whats a latoo?
