Music Review: Ghajini

Usually you would not expect great music in an action thriller like Ghajini, but considering that the film stars Aamir Khan and has music by AR Rahman, you cannot help but expect great things….
Unfortunately the music of Aamir Khan’s long awaited Ghajini disappoints.
- Guzarish (Javed Ali and Sonu Nigam) - Javed Ali opened the year with a chartbuster called Jashn-e-Bahaara from Jodha Akbar….he closes out the year with another chartbuster in Guzarish……AR Rahman’s music is excellent. The strange thing is that Sonu Nigam makes a guest appearance in the song….I don’t really get the logic behind that…..although Javed Ali’s rendition is great, it probably would have been even better with Sonu Nigam!

- Aye Bachchu (Suzanne) - AR Rahman tries to go the Pritam road with this hip-hop (almost rap) song…..hopefully he will never travel on this road again……..this song isn’t good and it was completely unnecessary to have AR Rahman make a song of this genre
Rating:

- Kaise Mujhe (Benny Dayal, Shreya) - Here is the AR Rahman we have grown to know and love……….nothing groundbreaking but a pretty nice song - until Shreya makes her entrance……after her arrival, the song reaches new heights! Isn’t she the best female voice out there?
Rating:

- Behka (Karthik) - Another song that tries to be hip…..and fails miserably. I know there will be people who will love this song but sorry I have nothing to say good about it…….aside from the fact that Aamir Khan will change his wardrobe six times in this song….yay! AR Rahman tries to be different in this song but the final product is rather weird.

- Latoo (Shreya) - What??? Seriously AR bhai did you really make this song or did you steal it from Anu Malik?

Overall Rating:

You would expect great music from a Aamir Khan and AR Rahman collaboration….but not this time. Only two of the songs are good….the rest is just horrible. Hopefully those bad songs will be left out of the movie as they are completely unnecessary, especially in a movie of this genre….
….whats a latoo?

Brother…..You might want to listen to the songs a couple of more times before forming an opinion……I think ‘Behka’ for which you have given just a single star is the best song of the entire album…I think it deserved better…..and as for ‘Latoo’ and ‘Aye Bachchoo’, I think they are not bad at all…….
ppl shld review rahman albums after 1 week….coz we dont have the intelligence of the genius…
Ghajini songs are rocking.
100 times better than tmail version ghajini
Bolly News needs to put better people to review marvellous music like Ghajini - ARR had done a fantastic job here so have the singers
All these songs work for me big time
1. Gujarish
2. Kaise Mujhe
3. Kaise Mujhe (instrumental)
4. Behka
5. Latoo
6. Aye Bachchoo
Hi Ali,
You are almost mistaken in saying only two songs are good and the rest are bad for which it does not even deserve to be present in the film. It may be true that one will not get interested in those 3 songs but you just hear it again and again , you will start liking it. And thats the Rahman Effect
This is totally a crappy review, by one who doesnt know anything much about music. Someone said right, AR Rahman music must be listened couple of times, then formed opinion after a week.I myself like Ghajini song to listen in my ipod n enjoying these days.
you cant write review on rahman sirs songs so early………it takes time to grow….. ghazni is good……
lo bhai… Behka & Kaise Mujhe are excellent songs…
hear for 100000 times and u can see the dipperence…
Is this a music review….CRAP….go to school and have some basics done first. Or beter yopu can go and review the music of various political campaigns arround voting. It nauseatic and ugly review
As evry1 says, dese days, Rahman’s songs require more hearing. For me too Bekha didn’t sound too good. But as i heard it for 3-4 times i began to like it.Ofcourse Guzarish sounded cool right from the beginning. Kaise mujhe too, must be heard quite a few times. And i think Latto and Aye Bachu are quite good songs…also evry1 will have their own taste in music.
So all in all, i think Rahman’s music is simply great in this movie.
please listen to the songs before reviewing the songs……i found the songs to be tooooo good….
for all of you claiming that “bekha” gets better after repeated listening……even after listening to it numerous times I still say there is nothing special!
Don’t you guys think, with all these music, we have lost our nativity. Eventhough it might be good to the ears, but there is very little indian in Rahman’s music. The tunes and singers take back seat with western instruments and sounds take front seats. I feel this is unfortunate. Anyway this is my personal view. Enjoy listening. I am happy to be with SDB, RDB, Naushad, SJ, O P Nayyar (all those in that era) who had given numerous tunes which makes me cry and purify our soul everytime I listen.
i think the ratings should be
Guzarish: 4 stars but AR rahman should know that GUZARISH is like garbage infront of Dost
Aye Bachu: 4 stars suzzane did a good job
latto : 4 stars shreya is ammmmmmaaaaaaaazing!!
behka: 3 stars cuz its really weird type of song but nothing to be compared to pappu cant dance and shano shano
Kaise mujhe :2 stars it looks boring to me
wits dis man , is this website is run by school boys or something ha ? like many of us point out u should have listen the album few times then only u will understand the magic of ARR . And about the album its surely one of the best of ARRs .
Aamir Khan’s much-hyped and eagerly awaited psychological thriller Ghajini has set the cash registers ringing in terms of advance bookings.
