Movie Review: Karzzzz

Himesh Reshammiya has brainwashed millions of people in his cult. He doesn’t care though – as long as he has his loyal fans, he can continue to churn out idiotic movies such as Aap Ka Suroor and now Karzzzz.

I really like Himesh…but its hard to say anything good about this movie….

Karzzzz urmila himesh

The original Karz had great acting. The new Karzzzz has some of the worst acting witnessed in recent cinema.

The original was not a perfect film. It had its share of flaws. Instead of fixing those flaws, the new Karzzzz adds some more of them.

Its always good to see when there is a twist in a remake that the original didn’t have. There is NO twist in this one. It is basically the same film with some minor details changed.

Some of the scenes are exactly the same as the original. Needless to say, they are pretty damn boring.

One of the details changed is that instead of having Kamini run over her husband, they have her sabotaging his plane. The scene is so fake that they might as well have made it an animation.

The scene where Monty returns to his mother was supposed to be emotional? Didn’t seem like it to me. Monty’s sister is also in the scene. She shows no emotion whatsoever that her brother has returned from the dead for her. Judging by her reaction, Monty is just returning from a weekend getaway.

Himesh acts better in this film than he did in Aap Ka Suroor. But then again, you cannot call what he does in Aap Ka Suroor acting. He is full of energy and enacts his role with enthusiasm in Karzzzz. But he is no Rishi Kapoor.

The rest of the cast is horrible. Himesh’s heroine (Shweta Kumar) needs to look for another career. Putting on greenish contact lenses and opening your eyes to the maximum level they can be open is not called acting. Urmilla does the same type of “acting” Shweta Kumar does but minus the the greenish contact lenses. I think they were both having a contest to see who could open their eyes more. What’s up with the punjabi music playing every time Raj Babbar’s character makes an appearance? Gulshan Grover has done some dumb roles, but nothing beats this one. He has a robotic arm in the film. Enough said I think.

None of the actors/actresses ever show any emotion. That’s weird cause wasn’t the original all about emotions?

On a brighter note, the music of the film is good. But it is not choreographed well. For some reason they have random white people dancing in EVERY song. Even when Himesh is at a place which is full of Indians, white people appear the minute he starts singing.

I think that we have to accept the fact that all Himesh Reshammiya films will have absurd endings. For some reason the climax has Urmilla finding an airplane in the middle of nowhere….which she proceeds to fly while shooting at Himesh who is standing on the ground patiently getting shot at. He takes some bullets to the leg, some to the arm, nothing serious. He should be okay…I didn’t really like the way the original Karz ended either, but the new version has probably the worst ending ever made.
