Katrina Kaif has visibly broken out of the mould of ‘westernised’ actor. This petite star can not only carry off Indian attire, she can also be quite graceful in it. Her look in the song, Teri Ore appealed to women across all age groups, from housewives to teenagers. Needless to say, she has been accepted in her avatar as the modern Indian young girl.

Kat in a lehenga choli left an indelible impression in the minds of her audience. She carries off a duppata over a skirt with aplomb, and looks like she was born to wear a saree. She has made the hearts of millions of men skip with her transformed looks, as well as inspired brides-to-be. Many young women imitate her style in an effort to look their best for their better half. In her latest film, Rajneeti, Kat endorses the simple Indian look, draped in a saree. This de-glam look defines her as a timeless classic beauty.

Another look that Katrina popularised is the kurta-and-leggings ensemble. She accessorises her clothes with bags and summer hats (Yuvraaj), and wears a lot of fluorescent colours usually associated with kids, like green, yellow and pink (Welcome, Singh Is King, London Dreams). These colours have now become trendy statements of the Indian youth.

The inspiration comes from her mixed blood, apparently. Her father is Kashmiri, and her mother, Italian, and people of these two regions express themselves through their clothes. The result is a clean, sexy Katrina. Her attire never screams for attention, yet it attracts people. Her hair is always natural, not untidy, but not heavily gelled, either. Natural and relaxed, that is what Katrina Kaif is all about.
