Kalki Talks about ‘Zindagi Na…’, ‘Happy Journey’ and Anurag’s Next
It has been more than a year since ‘Dev D’ was released and turned into a success. However, she kept quite low key throughout this time period. She was pretty much busy working though and completed two films in the year gone by. One was with hubby Anurag Kashyap which is called ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’ and another was with first time director Akshay Shere (an erstwhile assistant to Ram Gopal Varma) which is titled ‘Happy Journey’.
“Yes, these two films should be up for release now”, says Kalki, “We have finished shooting for both the films and they are in post production. Anurag would be the best person to talk about the release timing of ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’. The film has an alternate sort of story. It is a dramatic thriller. It is the journey of this girl who goes through quite a lot in her life as she meets different people on her way. Beyond that, it won’t be fair on my part to reveal the storyline. It is a film which has a mix of English and Hindi.”
Meanwhile, what does she have to say about ‘Happy Journey’? With an ensemble cast of Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey and Ravi Kissen, it does sound like another offbeat film for Kalki. “This one again, is a Hinglish film but it isn’t entirely offbeat. It has a bit of dark comedy to it. Also, there is a lot of action here. In fact during some of the action sequences, I remember hanging in air for what seemed like ages to me. The film is produced by this new production house called ‘Purple Haze’. I guess ‘Happy Journey’ will arrive before the year comes to a close.”
Currently she is shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ where she is paired opposite Abhay Deol. Also, she would soon be beginning work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘My Friend Pinto’ (with Prateek Babbar).
Elaborating on the different work that she has managing to bag for herself, Kalki says, “‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is a happy movie with quite some action in it. Also, Zoya comes with a unique sensibility of her own. You must have seen ‘Luck By Chance’ and you know how she gets a bit of both commercial as well as quirky ideas so well. Similarly, ‘My Friend Pinto’ is a happy movie as well. These are the kind of films which are fresh with ideas that I have never heard before. My priority is always the script and this is what I fell in love with.”
