Indian Film Festival of London to Screen Ishqiya
The opening edition of the Indian Film Festival of London (IFFL) is going to screen the critically acclaimed Bollywood film Ishqiya. The IFFL will take place from August 25 to 29.
This film by Vishal Bharadwaj opened with below average response. However, it earned lots of good reviews and good word of mouth promotion thus doing much better box office business than expected.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Ishqiya stars veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi. Shemaroo Entertainment and Vishal Bharadwaj produced film, which has music by Vishal Bharadwaj himself.
In a press statement, director of Shemaroo Entertainment Hiren Gada said, “We are very proud to know that Ishqiya will be screened at IFFL. The film has probably been successful to gain the love of international audience as well and continues to become popular by each passing day”.
IFFL will screen several popular and offbeat Bollywood as well as regional movies. The festival is organized with an aim to create a strong bridge between the Indian and British film industries.
The London festival will also organize a retrospective to honor the work of Indian filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movies of Chopra that are to be screened here include 3 Idiots, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, 1942: A Love Story and the award winning 1989 film Parinda.
