Indian Film Festival is Underway in Kazakhstan
A week long Indian Film festival has started in Kazakhstan, which will screen the Bollywood movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Baghban, and Taare Zameen Par.
As per an Indian embassy statement, “The appeal of Indian movies among the audience of Kazakh will be revived by this festival. It will also add to the further expansion and diversification of relations between the two countries”.
A huge number of people gathered at the reputed Kino Park Cinema Hall on Monday at the inauguration of the festival. A neighboring cinema theatre was opened to contain this huge crowd.
Addressing on the occasion, Indian Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar cited the popularity of Bollywood movies among the Kazakh viewers. He added, “From 1950s to the 1980s, Raj Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty used to be the icons here. Now, the number of icons and fans has increased. People here now admire actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and heroines like Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan”.
Sajjanhar said that the senior people here yet love the actors of the 1950s and 1960s and they still remember the lyrics of well-known songs from the movies like Shri 420 and Awara.
Remembering one incident, the ambassador said, “In 2009, during his visit to India, the President of Kazakh Nursultan Nazarbayev shared his love for Indian movies and songs. The Kazakhstan youths of today love watching Indian movies, songs, and dances”.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the ambassadors of different countries like South Africa, France, Germany, Brazil, Iran and many others.
