The Delhi based eminent designers Ashima and Leena Singh have been roped in by the Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee to design costumes for the opening as well as closing ceremonies of this great sporting gala.

All the participants of this grand event will be draped by the designer duo in trendy and classic costumes which will represent the rich cultural tradition of India.

Ashima and Leena SinghReacting on this association, Leena said, “It is really a rare bit of cherry for us to get associated with Commonwealth Games of 2010.”

The extravagant sporting event will be held from October 3 to 14 in New Delhi. Ashima and Leena will showcase their ensembles during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on October 3 and also during the closing ceremony on October 14.

Leena added, “The organizing committee asked us to make a design complimenting the look of the event and we accepted it enthusiastically. We may face some troubles while designing the costumes as these are for one of the most esteemed events of the country. However, we will try out best to come up with a flamboyant and aesthetic design for the event.”

Leena did not disclose anything about the creations as they want to unveil the secret during the much-awaited opening ceremony.
