Bappi Lahiri Releases Two Singles as a Tribute to Michael Jackson
Indian music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri is one of the celebrity fans of the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson. So, in order to a pay a tribute the late legend, the Bollywood ‘Disco King’ has composed two singles and released them in Los Angeles on his first death anniversary, yesterday.
In association with MusicBizPro, Bappi Lahiri has announced the worldwide digital launch of two tracks, ‘Michael O’ Michael’ (remix) and ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’. Jackson’s own backup singers Terry Young, Ricky Nelson and Glenda have featured in the vocals of these songs.
Bappi says, “Yesterday, we were in Los Angeles for the release of ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ (Hindi version called Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna). It’s a very emotional tribute and I have also sung in the album.”
The royalty earned from the tracks will be donated to the underprivileged children in Maharashtra, the composer has promised. Lahiri was personally associated with Jackson and now keeps constant touch with the pop star’s family.
During the pre-release event in Los Angeles, Jackson’s brother Jackie and Randy were also present to offer their best wishes.
In 1996, Bappi Lahiri, a huge Jackson fan, met the star during his performance.
He also went to Los Angeles for Jackson’s memorial service.
Lahiri has become the first music composer in Bollywood to have recorded a song for Michael. He said that all the songs in the album were powerful apart from being melodious.
