Keep trying, Aamir Khan!

As you all may know, Aamir Khan has been chasing his dream of winning an Oscar for quite a while now. It started with a good Lagaan movie, then a very bad Mangal Pandey, and now Taare Zameen Par.
Taare Zameen Par is without a doubt a very well executed film. It has wonderful acting and has been executed nicely. But it is not a film that will finally land Aamir his Oscar.
Everyone seems to love Taare Zameen Par, but how good is it really? It is about Dyslexia, a disorder not very well known in the subcontinent. Many people identified with this disorder. 
Many parents got hope that their child may not be “stupid” or “retarded” after all.
But in the United States and other countries, childhood disorders such as this are well-known. They know of not only this one but other disorders as well, such as autism or ADD. So this type of movie in these other places would not have been ground-breaking as it was in India.
Taare Zameen Par has many good things about it, but way too many flaws to be called the best film in the world.
Not to take anything away from the movie, but it is popular because of Aamir Khan. Take Aamir Khan out of the film and you have a sure shot flop. And at the Oscars, nobody cares about Aamir Khan - or any other Khan for that matter!

Ok whoever wrote this article is plain ignorant. Fine, I agree that initially the movie might have done well because Aamir but I hope you realize that there have been brilliant performances by the rest of the cast as well. In fact, the little kid was better than Aamir who only by the way enters midway.

Please write the article in full senses. Aamir enters the movie after first half, so is it like people were not watching the movie by then?? Is raising an issue like dyslexic in subcontinent is not good enough where there is so much ignorance about everything?? While reading the article, i was expecting that the writer will end saying that the OSO was the best movie for the year, i was surprised to see it didn’t happen.
Guys….first you yourselves lose sight of the what the article is about - and then call the writer ignorant? Keep in mind this article is about Aamir’s quest to get an Oscar, and not the movie review of TZP.
But it seems you people are only interested in reading the last paragraph?
@Neh - Agree with you that Darsheel Safary acted excellent in the film - dare I say even better than Aamir. BUT what if the teacher was played by some other actor like Tushar Kapoor? Are you saying the film would still be such a hit?

Winning an Oscar is not the only reason great films are made. I’m sure when the Khans are acting/directing/producing any movie…the least of their concern is, “Will I be nominated for an Oscar”? Indian Cinema cannot be critiqued by Americans. That is why they have their own Award ceremony.
Yes the movie is a masterpiece…The Khans can care less about the Oscars!
What if Tushar Kapoor acted as the teacher? Damn right, the movie would have been worse. Simply for the fact that Tushar Kapoor is not 1/10th the actor Aamir Khan is.
What if in pirates of the caribbean, Will Ferrell played the role of Jack Sparrow. Would it be good? What if Charlie Sheen was in Forest Gump? Would it be good? I mean, what kind of stupid way is that to look at a movie? Yes Taare Zameen Par is good because of Aamir, and quite frankly, that’s because Aamir is such a great actor. A lot of great movies would be pretty bad if they didn’t have great actors.
Your argument makes zero sense. Look at the movie for what it is, not what it would be with someone else. How stupid.
@Aman…read carefully before talking (that is if you are even capable). The argument was that would the movie be such a hit without Aamir Khan? I was saying no it wouldn’t be and gave Tushar as an example. If you read what is actually going on and what you are saying, you would see that you are reiterating what I have said and arguing with me at the same time.

Some people are never meant to climb the tree of knowledge. The writer of this article is clearly one of them.
Instead of harping on the technical deficiencies of the film and its international ground-breaking appeal, look at the importance and relevance of the film even in this day and age in Indian Society.
The fact still remains Indian parents are oblivious to it and the film is an outcome of years of ignorance. It’s a film that ought to be recommended for every Indian parent and child.
The fact that you choose to think that the film was a success because of Aamir shows your lack thereof of sensitivity and sensibility.
What would you rather vote for ? Jeans, Paheli or TZP ? Don’t even get me started with Eklavya.

After visiting this website in several taglines with “Aamir Khan”, now I got clear that this website is against Aamir Khan, the ultimate megastar of Bollywood. In place of http://www.bollynewz.com it should be renamed as http://www.againstaamir.com. I am not a fan of Aamir Khan, but I cannot tolerate if any website does a partiality with any star. Be it Hollywood or Chinahood also. Websites are made to provide news and information,…not support or hatred.

Writer agrees Taare Zameen Par is without a doubt a very well executed film. We all agree so. Stop arguing and Hope even oscar Juries also agree the same.No other Khan or star in India would have tried doing such movie..

A movie gets Oscar nomination because it is well deserved.
There is no denying the fact that it may not get the Oscars
due to the lack of Universal appeal. But at the same time I
would like to remind you that it is nominated in foreign film
category (same as Lagaan) where the social appeal for that
region is much more important than its Universal one.
Talking about TZP, a technically strong film (no need to talk
about its perfection about capturing some awesome moments from
different walks of life). The movie captures some of the still
and moving images/moments which are universal in nature. The
camera work by the director Aamir Khan is never seen in Indian
cinema. The way the music is integrated with the moments (ex:
Aamir Khan holding a kid, while going by a bus and the kid
looks at the camera and the music for blinking of a star shows
how perfectly and minutely it is captured). These are the details
which makes the moviw stand way above from any other movie.
