“People think ki chalo bhoot aayega aur daraega” – Milind Gadagkar (Director of ‘Phoonk 2′)

Yet another debutant director gets ready to realize his big screen dreams today. Milind Gadagkar, a 30 something young man who had written ‘Phoonk’, is having some nervous moments as his debut directorial effort plays on screens starting today. Though the first in the series was directed by Ram Gopal Varma, when Milind came with the idea of ‘Phoonk 2′, he was given a free hand to also direct it. Milind put things together entirely by wrapping up the principal shooting in a record time (37 days) by bringing the original cast (Sudeep, Amruta Khanvilkar, Ashwini Kalsekar, Ahsaas Channa) together.

“I enjoy working with children after ‘Paathshaala’ and ‘Chance Pe Dance’ – Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor is fast gaining popularity amongst children. Earlier this year he had some of his best moments in ‘Chance Pe Dance’ when he shared screen space with them. Now as ‘Paathshaala’ gets ready to release, one can see Shahid being surrounded by kids all over. Since he is playing a school teacher in the film, he is attracting attention from hundreds of students which means that he wasn’t really alone in front of the camera for most of the sequences.

High Flying Vikrum

Vikrum Kumar is adventurous at heart. Sky diving at 15000 ft up in the air from a flying jet is no mean feat and the actor has been bestowed with a Bravery Award by New Zealand Tourism board because he managed to do this without professional training. But this apart, Vikrum Kumar already has two films to his credit – Karan Razdan’s Souten and Arshad Khan’s Trump Card. He has also done a music video ‘Velocity’ with T-Series. Both films had Vikrum playing the proverbial hero. He is out to prove his histrionics once again in Jagbir Dahiya directed Hindi feature film Kuchh Kariye. This film is also the debut film as lead for Sukhwinder Singh.

Tell me about yourself?

My father is hotelier in Karnataka. There are no actors in my family. I used to play a lot of cricket at the junior level . Then I did my engineering and got interested in singing and playing the guitar. Yes, I’m a musician! From music it was a step away to cinema. For six years I struggled in the Kannada cinema industry. I lived on Rs 500 per month.

No sustenance from the family business?

No I never took money from the family after Standard 10. I used to work in a clothes store, play cricket for some money, and do photo-shoots. It was that period of struggle which gave me the experience to be an actor. The emotions have to come from the raw material of life.
