Music Review: Love Story 2050

My expectations from this soundtrack were huge…because I really thought this one would mark the return of my old favorite Anu Malik. Considering that Harry Bhwaja is launching his son in the film, that makes the expectations even higher. Harry Bhwaja has always had solid soundtracks with at least a couple memorable songs from each movie. (Dilwale, Diljale, Qayamat, & more recently Mein Aisa Hi Hoon)

Milo Na Milo (Shaan) - You only have to hear this song once to know it is a chartbuster…Anu Malik shows that he still has big hits left in him…although I must say that part he sings himself could have been better…loved the strange robotic sounds throughout the song! (you can tell its Anu Malik himself making those sounds). Rating: Continued >>

Music Review: De Taali

Everybody Put Your Hands Together -The Other De Taali (Sunidhi Chauhan,Anushka Manchanda & Shaan) - This song really had a chance of being something extraordinary - if only the lyrics were better! Give this song a couple listens and you will hooked despite the corny lyrics. V-S sure do know what they are doing. Rating:

De Taali (Sunidhi Chauhan & Shaan) - Even though this is another title song, it is completely different than the other version. Despite its efforts to be peppy, this one dissapoints! Stick to the other De Taali! Rating:

Music Review: Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic

Considering that SEL had nothing to do for the past few months except this album, one would think it would think that it will be out of this world good. But after listening to it, it turns out to be arguably the worst soundtrack from Yash Raj…..ever!

Pyaar Ke Liye (Shankar Mahadevan) - SEL try to take the easy way out with this one. This song would have perhaps been a nice complementary song later in the album. But as the first song it dissapoints so much that you quickly lose hope in the rest of the album. Cheap! Rating:

Nihaal Ho Gayi (Shankar Mahadevan) - Another cheap song with minimum effort put in. Seems like SEL reached deep into their bank of musical rejects for this one. Since this is a Yash Raj film, this kind of crap is perfectly acceptable! Rating:

• Hastey Hastey (Sunidhi Chauhan & Shivaram Kumar) - Anu Malik finally returns back to form with the 90s-like title song. The song is no chartbuster but it gives hope that Anu Malik really does have something left! Worth a few listens - although I wish he had used a better male singer! Rating:

• Bheegi Bheegi (Kunal Ganjawala) - This is one of the tracks used in the promos of the film but its sounds rather run-of-the-mill. Anu has done these types of songs numerous times before. The song has its moments but the bheegi bheegi part should have been better. Rating:

Has Aamir Khan Lost His Mind?

Music Review: Dhoom Dadakka

Seeing the suspect cast and that Roop Kumar Rathod made the music, I knew this album was hopeless. I wonder why he even makes music? Is there such a shortage of musicians that singers (such as Roop Kumar Rathod and Sukhwinder Singh) have to make music for films?

• Dhoom Dadakka (Daler Mehndi and Jaspinder Narula) - This song does absolutely nothing to separate itself from the hundreds of other bhangra numbers out there. Nice try guys but just because you add the word dhoom to a song doesn’t mean it will be lapped up! On a side note, I do wish we hear more from Jaspinder Narula in the future. Rating:

• Hari Om (Sunidhi Chauhan) - Perhaps, maybe, slightly better than the first song mainly because Sunidhi’s singing. But don’t get the wrong idea - this song is also pretty bad. Rating:

• Ara Ra Ra Ra (Udit Narayan, Roop Kumar Rathod & Kalpana) - This is the Holi number in which will be picturized on the entire village. This song could not have sounded anymore outdated. Rating:

Luckily theres no more songs in the album (unless you want to give the remixes a try)

Overall Rating:
2008 has been one of the worst years in Bollywood music-wise thanks to album like this.
